Do you mind posting the recipe for the shrimp sauce?  I think I have all the items need to make it but don't remember where I read the recipe.

Oh Bento's is my favorite.  I love to eat there and we haven't been in awhile.  We always spend way too much money on sushi there.  Good Stuff.

Here ya go.....it is good.

Shrimp Sauce for Fried Rice

Here is the receipe for Shrimp Sauce, it has nothing to do with Shrimp so I don't know how it got it's name:

1 Cup of Mayo
3 Tbs. of White Sugar
3 Tbs. Rice Vinegar
2 Tbs. Melted Butter or Margarine
3/4 Tsp. Paprika
3/8 Tsp. Garlic Powder

Pour hot melted butter over the sugar first and add Vinegar and mayo and stir until dissolved. Add Garlic Powder, Paprika and mix together. It will be a little thin, cover and refrigerate for about an hour and it will thicken.
Serve over Fried Rice....delicious.

That's the same ingredients as what I use, just a little different on the quantities (started with the same as yours and have been changing them to get closer to bentos).

Sometime I add a touch of lemon or orange juice.

I've noticed the brand of mayo and the brand of rice vinegar makes a big difference in the taste!

I usually only have Hellman's mayo in the house.  DOn't know the rice wine but it has like a green top on it.

Since the recipe calls for VINEGAR, it'd have to be some really OLD wine!

OK - I've made it and it's in the fridge.  I'm making some pork fried rice in a bit to go with it.  I doctored it up a little.  Not quite Bento good but I can eat it.  I added a bit of ginger, lemon and a dash of ketchup (saw that in a recipe online for shrimp sauce.)

Tasted pretty good to me.

Making this again tonight...think I will cut back by about a half teaspoon sugar and add a hint of lemon, see if cuts back a little of the sweetness. of course everyone here knows I don't need anymore sweetness.... Shocked

Ok, The shrimp sauce was better by adding the lemon but for some reason my rice did not turn out right this time. Maybe I used too much water because it would not stiffen up. Angry I was upset but I ate it anyway.

Does it make you mad when something won't "STIFFEN" up?
