I really don't know. Whats the difference and how can you tell them apart?
I have never been interested in politics until I started listening to the Matt Murphy show last year. Now I have sorta gotten a little bit interested and I am wondering what I really am.
I have never voted because I have never saw a candidate I wanted to vote for.
It seems to me with all that I know that most people vote for a candidate because they don't want the other one to win, instead of truly liking the one they are voting for anyway..

One way to tell them apart: Republicans generally believe that government should not be involved in programs that help people out. These include social security, medicare, medicaid,food stamps ect.. They believe that if these programs exist, that private sector business should administer them.
Democrats generally believe that the government should play a role in the welfare of it's citizens. Most democrats would be in favor of spending tax money to provide services such as health care and education.

Earl is definitely a democrat.
Me, anymore I don't know. In many ways I'm conserative, but I probably have some liberal believes also. The moral character of a canidate impresses me as much as anything. Honesty is very important. Of course they all campaign as good moral people, and the next thing you know, they have some bimbo in the oval office.
I doubt if I even vote in the next election. As George Wallace once said, "There ain't a dimes worth of difference between any of them".

I took several Candidate quizzes this year. Republicans always came out on top so I figure I'm Republican.

what station does the Matt Murphy show come on? I used to like listening to him on my way home. i dont vote either because i dont pay enough attention to what the candidates are trying to sell. i figure its better to not dilute the votes with my uneducated decision. |

I used to love to listen to Matt when I drove home from work also. I would also listen to Russ and Dee in the mornings on my way to work. I wish they were still on too. I didn't always agree with Russ and Dee OR Matt but I did enjoy their shows.

Same here. Socially, I'm fairly liberal. Fiscally, I'm fairly conservative. And I could never bring myself to vote straight ticket as I think that's akin to kissing your brain goodbye. I have friends that do it on both sides but I've never understood the concept of not voting for the platform and ideology of the PERSON running. Otherwise, you might as well slap a party sticker on any John/Jane Doe and let them run. |

I normally consider myself a Republican but I've never voted a straight ticket in my life. Since the end of January I've been working on a campaign of a friend of mine who is running as a Democrat. I've come to realize that in local races there's really no difference at all in the the two. Everyone wants basically the same things. I have also come to realize that the party bashing happens in both parties.
Another candidate that has been on the campaign trial with us said the other day, "My dad told me when I was young that Democrats are for the "working man." Well, I remember asking my Mom when I was younger the difference between the two parties and she replied (BTW, she votes democratic most of the time) "Republican's think people should work for what the have and Democrats think the government should give people what they have." I was maybe 12-14 when I asked her that but I still remember it.
In local politics especially, I don't think the two parties are as far apart as some people would lead you to believe.

I was told long time ago that Republicans were for business and every american making money and lower taxes and that Democrats were for Taxes and give away programs. Just look at what happening right now with the Democrats. They have shoved health care down out throats and that's going to cost trillions. Where are they going to get that money "TAXES". Compare what Ragan did for this country and what obama doing to it. Watch Fox News Network especially Gleen Beck and Shaun Hannity and you will figure real quick what you are. I'm a republican and always will be. By the way obama wasn't going to tax the middle class now ther are 2 new taxes coming the Value Added Tax, that will tax every thing you buy the more expensive the item the more the tax. if you want to keep the money you earn every day go Republican. Please vote this November.
