I do not agree nor disagree. I've decided it's between God and that person. I only have to answer for myself. Smiley

Right, or wrong, people are going to push for gay marriage..."As it was in the days of Lot, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of Man". May as well get used to it.

Bammie, homosexuality is never cited in scripture of Genesis as the reason Sodom was destroyed. Many biblical scholars say it was inhospitality that was the main reason for the destruction of Sodom, with male on male rape being the main factor of that.

When the men of Sodom gather at Lot’s door and demand that he “Bring the men out unto us that we may know them,” Lot steps outside, shuts the door to protect his guests and tries to reason with the would-be rapists, even offering his daughters instead.

Verses in the Bible which mention sodomites are referring to shrine prostitutes who worshiped the Canaanite fertility goddess.  Several verses of the next couple of books of the bible reiterate that how strangers should be treated

“Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” Exodus 22:21.

“Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” Exodus 23:9.

“Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:18.

“But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 19:34.

Ezekiel spoke of the 6 transgressions that brought an end to Sodom. Homosexuality was not even amongst them, most were amongst the "7 deadly sins'.
“As I live, saith the LORD GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, (1.) pride, (2.) fulness of bread, and (3.) abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, (4.) [Inhospitality] neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were (5.) haughty, and (6.) committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.” Ezekiel 16:48-50

The abomination Ezekiel refers to (in Genesis 19) was the attempted gang rape of angels. The violent behavior of the men of Sodom violated the hospitality ethic.

My personal opinion is that the bible can be read in many different ways. YOur post proves it, not saying it's right or wrong, just not the same as I think or others I know. As I said each to their own and I will only be judged by my actions, works.

Darla, you hit the nail on the head. Most of my posts that are Biblical related tend to show how some passages can be interpreted completely different from the way we have always been told. Heck, different interpretations are the basis for so many flavors within Christianity (denominations) itself.

Most of the interpretations I post are backed by accredited Theologians and Biblical Scholars. I did lots of my own studies of the Bible, researching different theories and interpretation on top of the religious teachings during my upbringing. My own sister (very religious) won't have religious discussions with me because I know more about the Bible than she does... I only mention that to make a point that I didn't come to self acceptance lightly. I researched and struggled greatly over a couple of decades to finally get to the 'at peace' stage I am in now.
