My list is as follows:

For Bar-b-que, its Archibald/Woodrow's on Hwy 43 N.

Burgers or steaks, Manasco's or Nicks in the Sticks.

Down home cookin is a hard one for me.  I like, or used to like, City Cafe. I haven't been in a while and heard that it isn't as good as it used to be.

The chain steakhouses are alright.  I can't really tell the difference between them for the most part.

I'd like to find a good hole in the wall place that has good soul food.

MO, have you ever tried Wrights Restaurant in Leland Shopping Center? I understand it is pretty good. I almost never go out for lunch, I work very late and eating is not in my vocabulary early in the day...also,  there is a new place that opened up (they closed once but back open again) in the old Hardees building on University Blvd, next to Sonic. It is supposed to be like a meat and 3 for under $5.00. I have heard people talk about it and they say it's pretty good.

Nicks is pretty good but I would rather have a steak grilled on my patio, with real charcoal, than anyplace I have eaten in Tuscaloosa.
I do like Hokkaidos (sp?) on 15th st....
Full Moon for barbeque is pretty good but I don't like the chow chow..I think that's what it's called.
Southland was good but they sold to the people who own Pottery Grill, not sure if it's the same food or if it's barbeque now. I need to stop there and find out one day soon.

I like Taco Casa's taco burgers, if I could just stop the indigestion afterwards it would really be good.

I need to try it.  I used to love to eat at Wright's Bakery when they had the restaurant in Northport.

Is this one at Leland owned by Ed Wright?  Is he even still alive?

I LOVE Jim's Bar-B-Que  down near Prattville.  We used to stop there everytime we went to Montgomery when hubby used to work down there.

That is the best bar-b-que I ahve ever ate.

The best steakhouse EVER to me is "Ole Hickory" in Columbus. It's all they serve and it is delicious!

For fine dining:
The Best restaurant in town is Epiphany (downtown).
Kozy's is second best.
Melina's in Northport (where the Globe used to be) is also good.
I heard that Evangeline's has gotten better.
Cypress Inn can be good - both the food and service are really variable.

For chains, I like Longhorn in the Midtown Village, and Outback, and Olive Garden.

for ethnic food, we like Surin (Thai) and Majarajah Indian.

I haven't found any great Mexican restaurants (we're from San Diego so I have high standards for Mexican).  There's a little tiny place in Alberta that is pretty good and very authentic, for take-out. The other Mexican places in town are so-so.  We go to Pepito's because it's ok and cheap.

The Japanese place in the mall in the food court, although it really is more Chinese, is really good, it has fabulous egg rolls. Otherwise I don't know of any great Chinese restaurants. We used to like Hong Kong but it is closed down.

Tokyo is the best regular Japanes restaurant and has good sushi and teppanyaki.

Besides the fine dining places, I don't know of any good fish or seafood places. Too much deep frying around here, and none are as good as Ezell's was.

I forgot to list my favorite Mexican restaurant - it's LaGran Fiesta in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center on 69 south.  YUM-O.
